Already twice the Venice Architecture Biennale was postponed due to the pandemic, but now it will finally take place! From May 22 to November 21, 2021, the exhibition will open its doors under the already familiar title "How will we live together" which curator Hashim Sarkis already selected before the pandemic. Visitors will soon be able to view 114 contributions from 46 countries in the Giardini and the Arsenale.

German Pavilion: A view from the future

Among them is the German contribution by Arno Brandlhuber, Olaf Grawert, Nikolaus Hirsch and Christopher Roth, who as "Team 2038" want to look back from the future. In a series of films that can be viewed virtually, they tell the story of a world in which everything has just gone right – a theme that could hardly be more appropriate in view of the current situation. So the German pavilion in Venice will remain largely empty, reveals curator Olaf Grawert. The physical pavilion thus serves as an interface to the digital pavilion and anchors the exhibition spatially – a mix of two worlds.

An exciting first look

Despite the imminent opening, the Biennale is of course all about Corona, so that some of the contributions can also be followed online. For this purpose, there is already a digital platform, on which interesting images, videos and podcasts are already available. These give a first impression and make you want to know more!
