Film tip: Renzo Piano - Architect of Light

Almost floating, the Centro Botín is located south of Santander's old town, directly on the seafront, and since its opening in 2017 has been one of the world's leading museums of modern art. The extraordinary building was designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, whose works often play with light. Other famous architectures, such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris or the New York Times Tower in Manhattan, as well as The Shard in London, also come from his pen.

In the film "Renzo Piano - Architect of Light", Spanish director Carlos Saura documents the history of the creation of the Centro Botín, whose facade is covered with approximately 280,000 bright ceramic tiles that reflect the daylight in an iridescent way. From design to construction, viewers get a behind-the-scenes look at this special building project and can experience the creative process in a special way. In addition, inspiring dialogues between Carlos Saura and Renzo Piano arise again and again in this atmospheric and calm documentary, which illuminate the topics of art, beauty, creativity and architecture from the most diverse perspectives.
